History of the Show
The first Caddington Village Show was held at the Baptist Church in 2002 as a produce and dog show. The following year the show moved to its current venue at Heathfield Lower School, in the heart of the village, as a produce show and craft fair. In 2005 the organisers decided to take a well earned rest.
For a while the show was threatened with closure. However a group of mums from the village decided the show was worth saving and decided to try attracting more villagers to the show by attempting to provide something for everyone. They revived the dog show, expanded the craft fair, provided children’s entertainment including a free balloon modelling clown and brought in a brass band which added to the atmosphere. As a result the day was a great success and we were overwhelmed by the response from the villagers and village businesses.
More recently we have added even more exciting and fun events - a climbing wall, hog roast, morris dancing, puppet show and travelling zoo. All this is thanks to the generous sponsorship, advertising and donations from local businesses, to whom we are very grateful. Caddington Village Show continues to be a non-profit, volunteer-run group that aims to celebrate village life. Any profits made will be ploughed back into the next show and other events we may organise for the village in the future.
